AMFI: Alberta Manufacturing and Fabrication Innovation

April 12, 2016 - April 14, 2016

The Alberta Manufacturing and Fabrication Innovation (AMFI) Program was created in 2011 as a professional development program to enhance understanding of modern fabrication technologies through hands-on demonstrations. The program has run successfully as a partnership between Alberta Innovates-Technology Futures (AITF) and the University of Alberta’s Canadian Center for Welding & Joining (CCWJ) along with support from the Government of Alberta.

In 2015, an expanded AMFI program will commence, creating a technology transfer program designed to de-risk and screen advanced technologies for local manufacturers, fabricators, coatings applicators, service companies, and their supply chain partners. As an industry led consortium, AMFI will evaluate and facilitate adoption of new and existing technologies into the Alberta Energy Sector supply chain.

The program will operate in three strategic areas:

  • Welding and Joining
  • Coatings & Overlays
  • Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
